Tips & Tricks for Company Morale
It seems that the latest company trend is to have very high company morale. We have seen cubicles thrown to the curb to be replaced with open workspaces where employees can openly communicate. Bringing in lunches has been replaced by snacks and food being constantly stocked in the office kitchen.
But what if your company is just starting to increase office morale? Or you want to increase everyone’s mood, but you do not know where to tart. Below is a list of three things you can do to start increasing company morale. Also, it does not matter if you are a manager or part time employee
anyone can come up with ideas to help boost everyone’s mood in the office.
- Make your workspace your own.
According to Business Insider, Americans will spend an average of 90,000 hours working in their lifetime. For some of these workers, those hours will be put in at a desk. Therefore, one of the easiest ways to increase your personal mood going into work is to make your desk feel more like home. You can bring in personal pictures, a side lamp, and replace some typical office items with a more personal touch. This will not only make you feel more comfortable in your workspace but will encourage other employees around the office to do the same.
- Treats will improve the poorest of moods.
One Wednesday a month our door technicians make their way to the office to have a team meeting. Coincidently, Panera bagels are also brought in this morning and there are always enough for everyone in the building, and there are always leftovers. Let’s just say, no one is in a bad mood on Bagel Wednesday and it is something the whole company looks forward too.
If you are looking for an instant mood booster in the office food is never the wrong way to go. You can bring in doughnuts, throw a pizza party, or set out mints at your desk.
- Celebrate the holidays like you are family.
Every year our office will host a shrimp boil for Thanksgiving, a secret Santa gift exchange for Christmas, and then a Christmas Party for all technicians and office personnel to attend. These multiple parties help everyone get in the holiday spirit and feel included, therefore increasing the feeling of teamwork and mood.
